Sounds like you want to make money and have fun.
Bartenders can get paid very well, but this is difficult
to document because a lot of it is paid in tips. Try to
look at it this way....if you are employed for the next
four years as a bartender, the training will have cost
you less than $2 per week.

Can I just buy a book on bartending and try to memorize
the drinks?
This has been tried but it is very, very hard to do.
Most beginning bartenders are very scared. A lot of our
course is about specific bartending
techniques, attitude, and what's going on locally.
Some bar customers are very savvy. They will look
forany sign of weakness in a new bartender to use for
their own entertainment.
